A winged human figure rising before an orange sun above a dark, fractured landscape

Homo digitus

I am Homo digitus, flesh and steel and circuit light,Forged from pride and hubris sight;Quantum process and programmed flight,Soar toward the destined height.

I am Homo digitus, shattered flesh and broken doll,Remnants of time and hubris wall;Analog soul but programmed call,Plummet toward the destined fall.

A monochrome drawing of an elderly man sitting alone at a table

Antique

Staring at the tabletop,Iridescent drops of light,Images dance to music,Muted in his sight.

Empty chairs and distant faces,A hollow glass of beer,He treads upon the memories,The warmth that was a tear.

His life a darkened broken road,A mind that’s weak and worn,Spirit challenged to the breaking point,Since the day that he was born.

His fingers play the liquid stale,As old and alone as he,Musty smells, the tempest yells,Lingers endlessly…

Unkempt and tattered are his clothes,A beard so gnarled and grey,They’ve been with him these empty years,They’ll keep him warm today.

Still the hopes and still the dreams,And hold the pain at bay,He lifts the glass unto his lips,And the hours slip away…

A human figure held aloft by chains in a dark green space

POEM / 03

Collusion

Prisoner of a legend,Abandoned on his reef,They shower him with glory,He drowns in their belief.

He clutches at the image,His splintered heart in grief,They swallow up the hero,His life in stark relief.

Prisoner of a legend,His fallacy tried and true,Strip the bones a gleaming white,His spirit will imbue.

Though his time has long since passed,Give the man his due,He feels your tortured, teasing rites,His motions right on cue.

A solitary figure walking along a pale frozen road toward the horizon

POEM / 04

Chrysalis

Reflections in a frozen land,Visions of my loved one,Glacial night and crimson dawn,I’m blinded by the blood sun.

Coldness is the world I bear,The void remains the same,Emerald light and shimmering hair,My longing turns to pain.

Splintered ice, you will entice,Stillness in the wind,Desolate soul, you’re in control,I speak of raptured sin.

Motif of snow, the gods all know,I seek your cherished grace,The shriek of fowl, the elements howl,There’s emptiness in this place.
